LOTS Reference Book Library

The LOTS reference library is provided as a service to LOTS members, designed to assist them in the many operating and collecting aspects of Lionel trains. It has books and references to help with the design and construction of home layouts, on such topics as wiring, scenery, benchwork, track plans, and bridges. Also included are some classic and modern volumes on repairing and maintaining Lionel's engines, rolling stock, and accessories. Once up and going, your layout will be brought to life with the super tips and tricks divulged by the authors of our operating guides. Collectors even have access here to the most recent Greenberg Guides for all of Lionel's products from 1900 on till today – the books considered the 'encyclopedias" of Lionel trains. All available just for the shipping price!

The books are available on loan (you must be a LOTS member to request them!) at no charge to the member except the shipping cost when returning them.

  Article Library

The club from time to time produces an index of all articles printed in Switcher magazine. The most recent index was printed in the February 1997 issue, and covered everything from the first issue in 1980 through December 1996 (Volumes 1 thru 17). This index graphically demonstrates the great variety of train-related topics that Switcher has examined over the years, and emphasizes its importance as the primary means of communication in LOTS. Copies of the index, and guidelines for ordering article copies, are available from the Librarian.

Photocopies of original Switcher articles are available to members from the Librarian. You may request copies of these articles, to expand your library of information or to discover new topics in the world of toy trains. Since most of the issues themselves are no longer available, this is the best means for newer members to catch up with past reading and to get the most from the expert advice our wonderful members have to offer!

Thank you for your interest in LOTS and in Switcher!

Requests for back issues and article copies should be directed to the Librarian:
